Reasons to like......ok love Spokane.

I can say a lot of negative things about Spokane, the 2 biggest are the winters, and its not home. But one of the best things here is the Spokane Opera House and the Riverfront park area in general. When I was a kid I came here to see the play Cats. I LOVED it and have enjoyed musicals since. Last year I got to go see Phantom of the Opera and that was AMAZING! Last night we went and saw Spamalot. It is the Broadway version of Monty Python's The Holy Grail. I love that show and was so looking forward to the play. I had heard about it a few years ago and figured I would never get to see it because I don't live in New York. When I found out it was coming here I watched the website weekly to see when tickets would go one sale. We got there last night just in the nick of time (I thought it started at 8:30, and it started at 8). It started off great, very much like the movie, with a few Broadway changes. For the most part it was well worth it. At one point it had one of the Knights come out as gay and marry the annoying guy (the one that was supposed to marry the girl with the huge tracks of land). I did not see the point of this. What is people's obsession these days with being gay?? I was also excited to see Rent when it came out on video and that is all it was about. This added nothing to the play, and it would have been better with out it. Maybe it is a New York thing, I am a simple western girl and, silly me still thinks it is a choice and not a correct life style.

Anyway I am not giving up on the theater. They have listed next years plays and one of them is Fiddler on the Roof. I am seriously concidering getting tickets to it. Then there is the IMAX. One of the most memorable trips to the movies was seeing Twister on the IMAX, I thought I was going to be wisked away at any point. Later this month they are playing the new Night at the Museum on the IMAX and I will be there. These may seem like silly things to get excited about but it means that life has gotten back to normal and I can be excited about simple things.
